Malawi - Orthopedic technicians training at the Central Hospital of Mzuzu
In 2021, SwissLimbs added Malawi among its project countries by training local orthopedic technicians.
SwissLimbs arrived in Malawi, which became its new project country in 2021, through a training for local orthopedic technicians at the Central Hospital in Mzuzu. The training was provided by Claude Mushi, orthopedic technician at the Mwanza Prosthetics & Orthotics Workshop, and Nsengiyumva Magogwa, orthopedic technician at the Desire Charitable Hospital and Rehabilitation Center.

The aim of this first training mission was to train 11 orthopedic technicians and restore the mobility of 9 patients. During the training week, SwissLimbs Executive Director Roberto Agosta also met with Benadeta Singini, director of the orthopedic center, and Dr. Benson, orthopedic surgeon. From this meeting emerged the request to SwissLimbs to supply the center with orthopedic materials and the desire to create a new orthopedic center in Zomba, in order to ensure care and assistance to a wider sector of the population.
