James has been a challenge for SwissLimbs: he is the first transumeral amputee in our history!
It was in 1995 that James, following a car accident, was rushed to hospital with a forearm injury. For reasons that have never been fully clarified, when he woke up, his arm had been completely removed up to the shoulder.
In spite of everything, James has managed to build a bright life for himself: married and the father of twins, he works with communities to prevent infectious diseases such as AIDS. Before the SwissLimbs mission to Rwanda in May 2021, he had never had a prosthesis: now he is the happy owner of a transdermal prosthesis.
